Preserve the health and strength of your gums
Periodontology is the specialty dedicated to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of the tissues that support the teeth: gingiva, alveolar bone and ligament. Healthy gums are the foundation of a lasting smile. At the Clinique, we treat periodontal pathologies (gingivitis and periodontitis) to halt bone loss and ensure the longevity of your natural dentition using state-of-the-art care techniques.
Consultation and diagnosis
The first step is a thorough clinical examination to assess the condition of your gums. We look for signs of inflammation, bleeding or gingival recession. This session enables us to identify your risk factors and define the urgency of treatment to protect your dental capital.
Complete periodontal check-up
A periodontal check-up is a precise mapping of your mouth. Using specific measurements (probing) and x-rays, we assess the depth of periodontal pockets and bone levels. This detailed diagnosis is essential to establish a personalized and effective treatment plan.
Root planing
Surfacing is a deep cleaning performed under local anaesthetic. It removes tartar and bacteria that have accumulated under the gums and on the roots of teeth. This non-surgical treatment disinfects tissues, reduces inflammation and encourages the gums to press back against the teeth.
Bone regeneration
When periodontal disease has caused significant bone loss, regeneration techniques can be considered. Using specific biomaterials or membranes, we help your body to rebuild some of the lost bone support, stabilizing teeth that have become mobile.
Gingivectomy
Gingivectomy is a procedure designed to reshape or remove excess gum tissue. It can be performed for aesthetic (gummy smile) or therapeutic reasons.
Coronary elongation
This procedure involves adjusting the level of gum and bone around a tooth to expose more of its healthy structure. It is often necessary before fitting a crown if the tooth is too dilapidated, or to harmonize the smile line aesthetically.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions about periodontology
Periodontal health is often overlooked, but it’s vital. Here are answers to the most frequently asked questions to help you preserve your supporting tissues.
What are the signs that should alert me to the condition of my gums?
Red, swollen gums that bleed during brushing or spontaneously are the first warning signs. Persistent bad breath, sensitivity to cold or the feeling that your teeth are moving or shifting often indicate more advanced periodontal disease.
Is periodontitis a reversible disease?
Unlike gingivitis, which is reversible, bone damage caused by periodontitis is often permanent. However, with treatments such as resurfacing, we can stabilize the disease, halt bone loss and prevent teeth falling out.
Is periodontal treatment painful?
Procedures such as root planing or periodontal surgery are performed under effective local anaesthetic to ensure your total comfort. After the treatment, slight sensitivity may occur for a few days, but this is easily managed with standard painkillers.
