Dental hygiene

A preventive approach to long-term smile preservation

Dental hygiene is the foundation of good oral health. Much more than a simple cleaning, the care provided by our hygienist aims to prevent cavities and gum disease before they require more extensive treatment.

At the Clinique, we use the latest prophylactic technologies to offer you care that’s both effective and comfortable. Each treatment is personalized, with advice tailored to your needs, habits and lifestyle.

New-generation scaling (Guided Biofilm Therapy)

We offer the GBT (Guided Biofilm Therapy) method, an innovative approach based on Air-Flow® technology. This protocol gently and precisely removes biofilm, stains and tartar, even in the most inaccessible areas. The treatment respects natural tissues, preserving enamel and gum health, for a more comfortable, less invasive treatment experience.

Preliminary oral examination

Each session begins with a thorough oral health assessment to identify the presence of plaque, tartar and any gum inflammation. This examination enables us to detect areas at risk and guide the cleaning precisely to ensure optimal, personalized treatment.

Early detection of oral pathologies

Hygienists play an essential role in the prevention and detection of oral diseases. Careful examination of the teeth and gum tissues can quickly identify the first signs of caries or periodontal disease. Early attention usually enables simple, conservative and minimally invasive treatments to be applied before the problem worsens.

Personalized advice and day-to-day support

Because good oral health is also built up at home, we offer you hygiene advice tailored to your needs. We’ll help you choose the most appropriate instruments – toothbrushes, interdental brushes or dental floss – and improve your brushing technique to preserve the benefits of in-clinic care over the long term.

Removal of superficial discoloration

Thanks to Air-Flow® technology, discoloration caused by coffee, tea, red wine or tobacco is gently and effectively removed. Without resorting to chemical bleaching, this treatment immediately restores teeth to their natural radiance, leaving them feeling fresh and clean.

Preventive maintenance and regular servicing

Prevention is based on regular care. Depending on your situation and risk profile, we set up a personalized follow-up program. These appointments help maintain gum health, prevent future complications and preserve your natural teeth and dental restorations for the long term.

Maintaining good oral hygiene often raises practical questions. Here are the answers to the most frequently asked questions, to help you take care of your smile every day.

What's the difference between conventional descaling and the GBT / Air-Flow system?

Conventional descaling mainly uses ultrasound. The GBT (Guided Biofilm Therapy) method with Air-Flow is much gentler: it uses a mixture of air, water and fine powder to remove bacterial biofilm in a less invasive and more comfortable way, while being more effective on stains.

How often should I make an appointment with the hygienist?

For a person in good oral health, a visit every 6 to 12 months is recommended. However, for patients with a history of periodontal disease or implants, more frequent follow-up (every 3 to 4 months) may be necessary to prevent recurrence.

My gums bleed when I floss. Is this normal?

No, healthy gums don't bleed. Bleeding is often a sign of inflammation (gingivitis) caused by plaque build-up. Contrary to popular belief, you shouldn't stop cleaning your teeth. Instead, consult your hygienist about scaling and adapting your brushing technique.
